18-year-old killed in Monroe County rollover crash

TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. — An 18-year-old Tompkinsville woman was killed and another teen was injured Monday night in a single-vehicle crash on KY 63 in Monroe County, according to Kentucky State Police.

Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 15 responded to the crash on KY 63, also known as Old Glasgow Road, just before 11 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found that Garrett Tingle, 18, of Tompkinsville, was driving a 2000 Plymouth Neon northbound when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway, struck an earth embankment and overturned.

A passenger, Lesly Chalchi-Gomez, 18, of Tompkinsville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner.

Tingle was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Monroe County Fire/EMS and the Monroe County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
