The Veteran Banner Program is intended to publicly recognize local veterans and serve as a visible tribute to their contributions to the nation.
The experience is intended for audiences interested in true crime and is designed to resemble the storytelling style of popular true-crime podcasts while incorporating immersive theater.
The exhibition centers on the idea of civic identity and participation, drawing inspiration from a famous line attributed to Abraham Lincoln, who once wrote, “I too am a Kentuckian.”
The celebration will feature food trucks, music and games, and is open to the public.
The concert is free and open to the public.
In recognition of the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence, organizers are also adding a boat parade to this year’s events.
According to the museum, the exhibit recreates the experience of the original installation through a specially outfitted van featuring touchscreens, photo opportunities, artifacts and facilitators who help visitors explore Kentucky history and learn how to preserve their own stories.
The evening concert will transform the square around City Hall into an open-air venue, where audiences typically gather on the courthouse lawn and surrounding streets.
