EDMONTON, Ky. — Barn Lot Theater's production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy Harvey is underway, with performances continuing through Aug. 9 at the theater's downtown Edmonton venue.

Written by Mary Chase, the classic comedy follows Elwood P. Dowd, an eccentric man whose best friend is an invisible, six-foot-tall rabbit named Harvey.

As Elwood's sister and niece attempt to have him committed to protect the family's reputation, the story unfolds into a comedy that explores acceptance, kindness and the value of seeing the world differently.

The production stars Wesley Waddle as Elwood P. Dowd, with Carol Perkins portraying Veta Louise Simmons and Emma Morrison as Myrtle Mae Simmons.

The cast also includes Carol Stephens as Ethel Chauvenet, Cindy Cassady as Miss Johnson, Presley Neagle as Ruth Kelly, R.N., Logan Corray as Duane Wilson, Mitch Williams as Dr. Lyman Sanderson, Josh Ford as Dr. William Chumley, Amber Shockley as Betty Chumley, Jim Walsh as Judge Omar Gaffney and Danyel Morrison as E.J. Lofgren.

Performances are scheduled July 30 through Aug. 2, followed by a special performance Aug. 4 and a final weekend run Aug. 6-9 at Barn Lot Theater, 207 S. Main St., Edmonton.

The production is rated PG for mild thematic elements and discussions of mental health.
