GLASGOW, Ky. — Repairs to the Barren County Courthouse’s air conditioning system are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, prompting local officials to put temporary measures in place to help keep the building comfortable and secure during the work.

Barren County Circuit Clerk Julie Jolly said Lyons Heating and Cooling will replace a component that is necessary for the courthouse’s air conditioning unit to operate.

“This part cannot wait until the fall/winter; we are told that it will fail,” Jolly said in an email to Barrenside. “They have graciously agreed to fix our air this week as our court dockets will be full the remainder of summer – AND – also before it gets too hot out.”

Jolly said courthouse maintenance employee Johnathan Shipp is coordinating with Barren County Emergency Management to obtain large fans to help circulate air throughout the building while repairs are underway.

Sheriff Kent Keen, deputies and court security personnel will also assist during the repair period.

“Sheriff Keen, his deputies, and court security will be securing the courthouse,” Jolly said. “We are thankful for everyone pitching in to help.”

The work comes as the courthouse prepares for a busy summer docket schedule.
