GLASGOW, Ky. — A man facing murder charges is also accused of assault after allegedly spitting on a corrections officer earlier this month.

Court records say Brandon Bond, 24, spat a “copious amount” of saliva on Deputy Walter Garner’s face after being booked into the Barren County Detention Center on April 6.

Bond is charged with the murder of Ava Woodcock and her unborn child.

Emotional courtroom as community gathers for Bond’s preliminary hearing
As Bond appeared on the courtroom’s Zoom screen from the jail, members of the crowd held up signs in his view. The courtroom display showed both Bond and those in attendance.

The Glasgow Police Department previously said Bond was intoxicated the day he allegedly shot Woodcock in her car outside Annie’s Family Kitchen on Cleveland Avenue.

Jail staff said he spat on the deputy as he was being placed in a restraint chair.

Jailer Aaron Shirley confirmed to Barrenside that Bond was kept in isolation overnight following his arrest. Jail staff described his behavior as “erratic.”

Bond is charged with third-degree assault. His case is pending indictment.
