HAYWOOD, Ky. — A brush fire sent a thick cloud of black smoke into the air Monday afternoon in Haywood.

Barren County Emergency Management said a brush fire spread near the Dollar General store. The incident was initially reported as a structure fire, but crews determined the flames had spread to nearby tires and a woodline.

Multiple agencies responded, including the Haywood, South Barren, Austin Tracy and Glasgow fire departments, along with EMS and emergency management.

No injuries were reported, according to Deputy Emergency Management Director Marcus Thurman. Crews cleared the scene shortly after 3:30 p.m.
