CAVE CITY, Ky. — A 65-year-old Cave City man was killed Saturday night after his bicycle was struck by an SUV along North Dixie Highway, according to the Kentucky State Police.

At approximately 9 p.m. on May 9, Post 3 of the Kentucky State Police received a request from the Cave City Police Department for assistance with a fatal collision in the 1200 block of U.S. 31W.

Investigators said King Martin, 65, of Cave City, was traveling southbound on a bicycle when he was struck from behind by a 2024 Nissan Murano, also headed southbound.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Phillip West, 49, of Horse Cave.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is being led by Detective Bo Hubbard with Kentucky State Police Post 3. He was assisted at the scene by Cave City police, Barren County EMS, the coroner’s office, and additional state police personnel.
