CAVE CITY, Ky. — Cave City Mayor Dwayne Hatcher said city council meetings will soon be livestreamed and made available for public viewing as part of an effort to increase transparency and encourage greater public engagement.

According to a Thursday news release, the city plans to begin streaming council meetings in the coming weeks, though officials have not yet announced a specific start date or where residents will be able to watch the meetings.

“By providing direct access to council discussions and decisions, the city hopes to encourage greater awareness of municipal issues and ensure that residents have the opportunity to stay informed through firsthand information,” a news release said.

Hatcher said he has supported efforts to improve city services, community engagement and transparency throughout his 14 years in office.

“Residents deserve every opportunity to stay informed about the work being done on behalf of our community,” Hatcher said. “Making council meetings available for viewing is one more way we can strengthen communication, promote transparency, and allow citizens to see the discussions and decision-making process for themselves.”

The announcement comes as recent council meetings have drawn larger-than-usual crowds, with residents seeking additional information about a proposed data center development in the city.

The city has not yet released additional details about the livestreaming platform, schedule or whether recordings will be available for later viewing.
