GLASGOW, Ky. — Children ages 14 and under are invited to lace up their running shoes for the annual Workout Anytime Dash for Sheldon on Saturday, July 25, at Beaver Creek Park.

The free event, sponsored by Workout Anytime Glasgow, honors the memory of Sheldon, the brother of the title sponsor. Organizers say the race typically attracts more than 100 children each year.

Proceeds from sponsorships support Kentucky Kids on the Block's educational programs in Barren and Hart counties.

The nonprofit uses puppets to teach children about topics including disability awareness, bullying prevention, personal safety and healthy choices.

Onsite registration and runner check-in will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. A Kids on the Block puppet program will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the races.

The race schedule includes:

  • 8 a.m. — 1/2K race
  • 8:15 a.m. (or immediately following the race) — 1/2K awards
  • 8:30 a.m. (or immediately following the awards) — 2K race
  • 9 a.m. (or immediately following the 2K race) — 3K race
  • 9:30 a.m. (or immediately following the 3K race) — 2K and 3K awards

The event will take place at Beaver Creek Park in Glasgow. Participation is free, though advance registration is encouraged.
