CAVE CITY, Ky. — Authorities in Cave City are investigating after a farmer discovered a dead body while harvesting corn Tuesday afternoon.

Cave City Police Chief Paul Reynolds said the farmer found the body in an area near the end of White Street.

Police believe the man is 61-year-old John Adwell, a Cave City resident who was last seen Sept. 2. Police previously said Adwell was last seen around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 2 in the area of North 1st Street and Gillenwater Street.

“We are 90% sure,” Reynolds said.

The body is expected to undergo an autopsy Wednesday in Louisville. Reynolds said authorities had to report for an autopsy at 6 a.m.

No further details were immediately available.
