GLASGOW, Ky. — Residents will have a chance to save lives, and pick a side, during a friendly “battle of the badges” blood drive Friday in Glasgow.

The Glasgow Police Department and Glasgow Fire Department will square off in a community blood drive, with donors choosing which department they want to support when giving blood.

Hosted by the American Red Cross, the drive will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Glasgow First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center.

The organization says it is facing an urgent need for blood and platelet donations. According to a news release, scheduled appointments provide about 90% of the blood supply collected by the Red Cross.

Appointments can be made in advance. Find more information here.
