GLASGOW, Ky. — Gas prices continue to climb across Kentucky, with the statewide average reaching $3.7884 per gallon Wednesday, according to AAA.

The statewide average was $3.6983 a month ago and $2.9600 a year ago.

In the Bowling Green market, the average price for regular gasoline was $3.8011 per gallon Wednesday. That compares with $3.6319 a week ago and $2.8540 a year ago.

The national average was $4.1203 per gallon Wednesday, according to AAA. The national average was $4.1014 a week ago and $3.1869 a year ago.

AAA updates its Kentucky county and market prices daily.

Gas prices have remained elevated as crude oil prices continue to affect the cost of gasoline. West Texas Intermediate crude settled at $82.23 per barrel Wednesday.

AAA has cited continued volatility in the Strait of Hormuz as a factor keeping crude oil prices around the $85-per-barrel range.

The Energy Information Administration also reported an increase in U.S. gasoline demand last week, from 8.68 million barrels per day to 9.04 million barrels per day. Total domestic gasoline supplies fell from 209.4 million barrels to 206.8 million barrels.

Kentucky’s record-high average price for regular gasoline is $4.7979 per gallon, set June 11, 2022.
