GLASGOW, Ky. — Glasgow residents will have 30 days to remove signs from public rights of way or bring them into compliance with the city’s new sign ordinance before enforcement begins.

The Glasgow Public Safety Committee established the grace period during a special-called meeting Thursday, Oct. 1. The ordinance took effect Monday, Sept. 28.

Under the ordinance, signs placed in rights of way or otherwise not in compliance could be removed and their owners could face fines.

The city will begin enforcing the ordinance Nov. 2, according to a city press release issued Monday.

The city is also offering to help residents determine where public rights of way are located at no cost.

Residents who are unsure where a right of way falls on their property can call the Glasgow Department of Public Works at 270-651-5977 for assistance.

The city said the grace period is intended to give sign owners time to remove signs from public rights of way and make other changes needed to comply with the ordinance.
