GLASGOW, Ky. — A Glasgow native is returning to her roots to inspire the next generation of young artists.

Mikayla Powell, a Glasgow Independent Schools alumna who now works in Louisville as an art therapist, spent time at Glasgow Middle School speaking with students about how art can translate into meaningful and rewarding careers.

Powell visited classes taught by art teacher Jennifer Fritsch, sharing her journey from student to professional and offering insight into the growing field of art therapy.

Powell’s visit will continue this evening with a special event at Glasgow Middle School, where she will unveil a new piece of artwork.

The event is scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. April 15, and the public is invited to attend, meet Powell and view the artwork.
