Glasgow to welcome back Louisville Orchestra June 25

GLASGOW, Ky. — The Louisville Orchestra will return to downtown Glasgow this summer, bringing a free evening of live music to the town square as part of its In Harmony Tour.

The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CDT on June 25 in downtown Glasgow.

According to the orchestra, the stop has become one of the tour’s most enthusiastic in recent years, drawing large crowds of families, friends and music lovers from across the region.

The outdoor performance will feature a wide-ranging program that blends traditional orchestral works with contemporary and unexpected pieces.

The evening will open with “The Star-Spangled Banner,” followed by Candide Overture by Leonard Bernstein and Symphony No. 8 by Antonín Dvořák.

According to the orchestra, audiences will also hear Souvenir d’Amérique by Henri Vieuxtemps, featuring a violin soloist, along with A Love Letter to Scotland, a movement from a recent orchestra commission by Anthony R. Green.

The program will also include lighter selections, including a heavy metal-inspired version of “In the Hall of the Mountain King” by Edvard Grieg and the comedic “1712 Overture.”

The concert will close with music from Star Wars composed by John Williams.

The orchestra is typically positioned in front of Glasgow City Hall, with audiences gathering in the roadway and on the courthouse lawn to take in the concert.
