GLASGOW, Ky. — Leadership Barren County is now accepting applications for its 2026-2027 program, a nine-month leadership development program designed to educate and prepare existing and emerging leaders for roles within the community.

The program provides participants with an in-depth look at the sectors, challenges and opportunities shaping Barren County while connecting them with local leaders and organizations.

A selection committee will review applications and schedule personal interviews with applicants before selecting up to 20 participants for the 2026-2027 class. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

The program will begin with an orientation and reception on Sept. 3, 2026, followed by an overnight retreat Sept. 10-11 at Barefoot Republic Camp.

Participants will then attend monthly full-day sessions covering topics such as economic development, law and justice, civic and nonprofit organizations, education, healthcare, agribusiness, tourism and quality of life.

The class will conclude with a second overnight retreat May 13-14, 2027, followed by a graduation ceremony May 18, 2027.

To graduate, participants must complete required program activities, including attending at least six of seven monthly sessions, completing three community service hours, participating in six community activities and completing a group project.

The program also offers opportunities for participants to build relationships with community leaders, strengthen professional skills and develop a broader understanding of issues affecting Barren County.

Tuition is $995 for accepted participants and must be paid by Sept. 9, 2026.

Scholarships are available, including opportunities through the Lead Forward Alumni Fund and Barren County Networking Women.

Applications, employer acknowledgment forms and two letters of recommendation are due by 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at the Barren Inc. office, located at 126 E. Public Square in Glasgow.
