GLASGOW, Ky. — Local nonprofits and educational institutions have an opportunity to pitch a project they would like to see completed in Barren County but currently lack the resources to undertake.

Leadership Barren County is accepting proposals for its annual community project, which is part of the class’s graduation requirements.

The Lead Forward Committee is seeking proposals for a physical community project that provides a sustainable, meaningful and long-term benefit to the Barren County community.

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or educational institution located in Barren County.

The project cannot be a fundraiser. However, the Leadership Barren County class may raise funds to help cover the cost of completing the selected project.

Applications are due by 4 p.m. CDT Friday, Sept. 4.

Organizations whose proposals meet the eligibility requirements will have an opportunity to present their projects to the Leadership Barren County class on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Barefoot Republic Camp.

Each organization will have 10 minutes to present and pitch its project, followed by five minutes of questions from the class.

A representative from each applying organization must attend and present for the project to be considered.

The class will select one project on Friday, Sept. 11. The selected project must be completed by May 1, 2027.

Organizations applying will be asked to provide information about the proposed project, including its location, the work that needs to be completed, who will benefit, how the project will be maintained, its estimated cost and whether it could be completed without assistance from Leadership Barren County.
