GLASGOW, Ky. — The beach at Barren River Lake State Resort Park will not open on time this season due to low water levels, officials said.

Park officials said the lake is currently more than 10 feet below its normal summer pool level, leaving the designated swim area completely dry.

“As you can see in the pictures, the swim area is completely dry with no water at all in the swim line section,” the park said in a social media post. “Unfortunately, our beach will have a delayed opening this season.”

Officials said they will continue to monitor lake levels and provide updates on when the beach may open as conditions change.

The park did not give a timeline for when the lake might return to normal levels but said the beach will open once water levels rise sufficiently to safely accommodate swimmers.
