CAVE CITY, Ky. — A man was arrested after police investigated a series of burglaries reported in Barren County over a five-month period.

According to the Cave City Police Department, Eric Hillirech, 35, was arrested Aug. 29 after a Barren County grand jury returned an indictment against him in August.

Police said officers spotted Hillirech riding a bicycle along South Dixie Highway and took him into custody.

Officers investigated several burglary reports between March and August. One involved tools stolen from a new home under construction on Meadowlane Drive.

Police also received reports from residents who said they saw a man entering outbuildings in the neighborhood.

The stolen tools were later located at a local pawn shop, police said. That helped investigators identify a suspect, and additional stolen tools were recovered following subsequent interactions with Hillirech, according to police.

Hillirech faces three counts of second-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, receiving stolen property, second-degree criminal mischief and first-degree persistent felony offender.

He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 7. He has a $5,000 cash bond.
