GLASGOW, Ky. — A Glasgow man has been indicted on three charges stemming from an alleged break-in and altercation at Taco Bell on Aug. 1.

Grayson J. Abney, 19, was indicted on third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief, both Class D felonies, and fourth-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to a police citation, officers were called to Taco Bell shortly before 1 a.m. after several people were reportedly causing a disturbance and attempting to enter the restaurant.

Before officers arrived, dispatch reported that several people were leaving in a truck. Police later stopped the truck.

Two Taco Bell employees told police Abney started the incident by spitting on the drive-through window. When an employee asked him to stop, Abney allegedly threatened to hurt the employee.

Police said Abney then came through the rear passenger window of the vehicle toward the employee. A beer was thrown at the drive-through, and Abney allegedly closed the window on the employee’s hand, causing significant injuries to two fingers. EMS described the injury as a crushing injury.

The employee also told police Abney later forcibly opened the restaurant’s locked front door and continued making threats. At one point, the employee said they picked up a chair to defend themselves.

Police reviewed security footage that showed the interactions. The footage had no audio but appeared “threatening and hostile,” according to the citation.

When questioned by police, Abney denied intentionally spitting on the window and denied throwing the beer or closing the drive-through window on the employee’s hand. He also denied forcibly entering the restaurant, saying he went inside during a verbal altercation with the employee.

Abney is scheduled for arraignment in circuit court Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. He was represented by a public defender in district court, and no new attorney is listed in available court records.
