GLASGOW, Ky. — The community is invited to take part in a Memorial Day flag-planting activity and service honoring U.S. military members who died in service.

Matt Mutter, who leads the Barren County Veterans Association and helps coordinate local veterans initiatives, said the annual flag-planting ceremony will be held Saturday at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery, beginning at 7 a.m.

Volunteers typically gather at the large column in the cemetery near the Leslie Avenue entrance. Glasgow Municipal Cemetery is located at 303 Leslie Avenue.

On Monday, Memorial Day, a brief service will be held at 10 a.m. in the city council chamber at the Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building, 126 E. Public Square.

The ceremony was previously scheduled to happen at the cemetery but was moved due to forecasted rain.
