CAVE CITY, Ky. — Salem Baptist Church will celebrate 225 years of ministry with a special anniversary service Sept. 13.

The church was founded as an “off-shoot” of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, according to a 1934 biographical sketch published in The Glasgow Times.

The Rev. Jacob Locke, a renowned pioneer preacher, organized the church.

The community is invited to join the congregation for the anniversary celebration at 10 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church, located at 90 Salem Church Road in Cave City.

The service will include worship, special singing by Joyful Road and a reflection on the church’s history and more than two centuries of ministry.

Following the service, attendees are invited to stay for a BBQ meal and fellowship.

A time capsule will also be opened as part of the celebration.

Pastor Jeff Wells said everyone is welcome to attend as Salem Baptist Church marks the historic milestone.
