FRANKFORT, Ky. — Students in Caverna Independent, Metcalfe County and Monroe County will be among those participating in a statewide effort aimed at keeping children engaged in reading and math over the summer break.

The Kentucky Department of Education’s 2026 Summer Boost: Reading and Mathematics Program will operate at 35 sites in 34 school districts and is designed to promote family engagement in reading and math during the summer break.

Participating sites will provide free books and digital access to math games intended to encourage continued learning while school is not in session.

According to the Kentucky Department of Education, each participating food service program will receive approximately 1,000 books to distribute at meal sites.
