Three injured after tractor, SUV collide on Louisville Road
Three people were injured Sunday afternoon after a tractor crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with an SUV on Louisville Road.
PARK CITY, Ky. — Three people were injured Sunday afternoon after a tractor and Chevrolet Suburban collided on Louisville Road in Barren County.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 2:47 p.m. to the 26,000 block of Louisville Road for the two-vehicle collision.
According to the preliminary investigation, 63-year-old Danny Winchester was driving a John Deere 2750 tractor north on Louisville Road when a mechanical failure occurred in the tractor’s front end.
The failure caused the tractor to veer into the oncoming lane, where it struck the rear quarter of a Chevrolet Suburban driven by 69-year-old Samuel Cassidy.
Cassidy’s wife, 56-year-old Laura Cassidy, was a passenger in the Suburban.
After the collision, the tractor left the left shoulder of the road and overturned onto its side. The Suburban left the right shoulder and came to rest in the ditch.
Samuel and Laura Cassidy were both taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
Winchester was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains preliminary.
