HORSE CAVE, Ky. — A Horse Cave man has been charged after an undercover investigation by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch into the online distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Stephan Wayne Self, 45, was arrested Monday following an investigation that began after investigators allegedly discovered him sharing images of child sexual exploitation online, according to Kentucky State Police.

The investigation led detectives to execute a search warrant at a Horse Cave residence on Monday afternoon. During the search, investigators seized electronic devices that were taken to the Kentucky State Police forensic laboratory for examination.

Self is charged with two counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under the age of 12, Class C felonies punishable by five to 10 years in prison if convicted.

He was lodged in the Hart County Detention Center. A mugshot was not immediately available.

Kentucky State Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
