US 31W to close this weekend in southern Hardin County for utility work

ELIZABETHTOWN — A section of U.S. 31W in southern Hardin County will be closed throughout the weekend for utility work, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, and the roadway is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10.

The work will take place near mile point 7.9, just south of the intersection with Kentucky 1136, between Sonora and Glendale.

During the closure, motorists will be detoured via Interstate 65 between Exit 81 in Sonora and Exit 86 in Glendale. Detour signs will be posted.

Local access along U.S. 31W will be maintained throughout the project.
