GLASGOW, Ky. — The Museum of the Barrens will host a volunteer fair Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The South Central Kentucky Cultural Center works to preserve the history and culture of the Barrens region for future generations, according to its website. The Barrens region includes present-day Barren, Allen, Hart, Metcalfe and Monroe counties.

During Tuesday’s event, attendees will have the opportunity to shadow different areas of museum operations, including the front desk, genealogy, facilities maintenance, cataloging objects and photographs, digitizing materials, archives, and books.

Volunteers can also learn about assisting with exhibit creation and working as an arts and antiques sales clerk.

The museum features three floors of artifacts, artwork, publications, archival materials, a genealogy library, and other items related to the region’s history.

The Museum of the Barrens is located at 200 W. Water St. in Glasgow.
