It will be a busy Monday evening for local government and education officials, with meetings scheduled for the Glasgow Independent Schools Board of Education, the Glasgow City Council and the Cave City Council.

The agendas include discussions on employee pay raises, budget approvals, school staffing, development matters and public safety agreements.

Glasgow Independent Board of Education

The Glasgow Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. and will consider a wide range of items related to the upcoming 2026-27 school year.

Among the most notable discussion items is a proposed salary increase for district employees. Following that discussion, board members are expected to consider approval of updated salary schedules for certified and classified employees, substitutes and athletic stipends.

The board will also conduct the first reading of policy and procedure updates for the 2026-27 school year and consider recommended procedure changes.

Several contracts tied to student services are on the agenda, including agreements for occupational therapy services through T.J. Samson and services for students with speech and language impairments.

Board members are also expected to consider creating a new school psychologist position, approve district funding assurances, review student handbook revisions and approve school master schedules for the upcoming year.

Public safety will also be addressed through consideration of an updated memorandum of understanding with the Glasgow Police Department for school resource officers during the 2026-27 school year.

Other items include approval of insurance coverage for the district, a memorandum of agreement with the Kentucky Department of Education, the use of emergency certified substitute teachers, and acceptance of several donations benefiting Glasgow High School and the football program.

The board will conclude the meeting with a closed session related to Superintendent evaluation matters before returning to open session to adopt the superintendent's summative evaluation.

Glasgow City Council

The Glasgow City Council will meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Council members are scheduled to hold second readings on two ordinances.

Sharp Carts expansion prompts proposed tax rebate in Glasgow
Cities commonly offer payroll tax rebates and similar incentives to encourage businesses to locate, expand and create jobs in the community.

One would authorize Sharp Carts LLC to retain a portion of occupational license tax revenues as part of its Kentucky Business Investment incentive agreement. The second would rezone property at 512 East Main Street from medium-density residential to medium-density multifamily residential use.

The council will also hear the first reading of the city's fiscal year 2027 budget ordinance, which covers the period from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

Several appointments are also on the agenda, including the reappointment of Janis Turner to the Joint City-County Planning Commission and the reappointments of Aaron Woosley and Randle Norris to the Glasgow Board of Adjustments.

Cave City Council

Earlier in the evening, the Cave City Council is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. at City Hall.

Council members will review May restaurant and transient room tax collections, which totaled more than $98,000 transferred to the Cave City Tourism Commission.

New business includes discussion of Planning and Zoning appointments, which stems from a recent discussion about forming a committee to better understand data centers.

Over the next year, the city council plans to research the issue and gather community input on data centers, with plans underway to form a committee to study the issue further.

renewal of the Caverna School Resource Officer contract, an amendment to the current fiscal year budget and adoption of the 2026-27 city budget. Officials will also consider matters related to the 31-W Sidewalk Project through a TAP grant.

The council will also receive reports from BRADD, the fire department, police department and code enforcement officials.
