BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — A misdemeanor assault charge against Glasgow mayoral candidate Bob Miller was amended to disorderly conduct Thursday in Warren County.

Miller was arrested Sept. 16 in Bowling Green and charged with fourth-degree assault following an alleged disagreement between him and his girlfriend’s son.

Miller appeared in court Thursday for a pretrial conference, where prosecutors agreed to amend the charge to second-degree disorderly conduct, according to the Warren County Circuit Clerk’s Office.

Second-degree disorderly conduct is a Class B misdemeanor in Kentucky, while fourth-degree assault is a Class A misdemeanor carrying more severe potential penalties.

A judge approved the amended charge and sentenced Miller to six months of pretrial diversion, he said. If he successfully completes the diversion period, the charge can be dismissed and expunged from his record.

Henry Royse is seeking a second four-year term, while Bob Miller is challenging him for the nonpartisan seat.

Miller previously told Barrenside the incident was “family drama” and predicted the case would be dismissed. While the original assault charge was amended, the case was not dismissed outright Thursday.

Miller is challenging incumbent Mayor Henry Royse in the Nov. 3 Glasgow mayoral election. He previously ran an unsuccessful campaign for mayor of Munfordville before moving to Glasgow.
