Barren County zoning public hearing rescheduled for Oct. 19
The public hearing is scheduled for Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. The Joint City-County Planning Commission will meet in regular session that night.
GLASGOW, Ky. — A public hearing on proposed zoning regulations for unincorporated Barren County has been rescheduled for Oct. 19, giving residents an opportunity to weigh in on the proposed rules.
The hearing was originally scheduled for Sept. 21 but was delayed in late August after an earlier meeting of the Barren County Land Use Committee was postponed.
The committee met Sept. 17 to continue reviewing the lengthy set of proposed regulations ahead of the hearing.

Barren County magistrates voted earlier this summer to begin the process of developing comprehensive planning and zoning regulations for unincorporated areas of the county. Barren County currently has no countywide zoning ordinance.
If approved, the land-use ordinance would establish development rules for unincorporated areas of Barren County, similar to the zoning regulations already in place within Glasgow, Cave City and Park City.
The Land Use Committee is scheduled to meet again Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. in the Glasgow City Council chambers inside the Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building.
The public hearing is scheduled for Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. The Joint City-County Planning Commission will meet in regular session that night.
Planning Commission Director Kevin Myatt said they will handle the due process requirements, including public input, before the ordinance moves forward.

Following the public hearing, the Planning Commission must vote on whether to forward the proposed regulations to the Barren County Fiscal Court. The Fiscal Court would then consider whether to adopt the ordinance.
If the Fiscal Court approves the ordinance, it must receive two readings before becoming law.
