TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. — A Cave City woman was arrested Wednesday after Kentucky State Police say she led troopers on a pursuit that ended when her vehicle crashed into multiple vehicles in Tompkinsville, injuring two people.

According to Kentucky State Police, the incident began just before 3 p.m. June 3 when a trooper attempted to stop a 2016 GMC Terrain for speeding on Ky. 163 near the Metcalfe-Monroe county line.

Police said the driver failed to stop when emergency equipment was activated, prompting a pursuit. During the chase, another trooper deployed a tire deflation device on Ky. 163, striking one of the vehicle's front tires. Despite the damaged tire, the vehicle continued south toward Tompkinsville, according to KSP.

Troopers terminated the pursuit after the vehicle entered the city limits, but police said the driver continued traveling at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly on North Main Street before disappearing from sight.

A short time later, the Tompkinsville Police Department notified KSP that the vehicle had been involved in a crash at the intersection of Ky. 163 and Columbia Avenue near the Valero gas station.

An investigation determined that the driver, identified as Amanda Sanchez, 36, of Cave City, struck two vehicles on Columbia Avenue, causing one of those vehicles to collide with a third vehicle, according to KSP.

Two occupants of one of the vehicles involved were transported to a hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Sanchez was arrested by Trooper Codie Ford and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.

She was charged with speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, second-offense DUI, first-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, driving on a DUI-suspended license, reckless driving, failure to wear a seat belt and improper passing.

Ford continues to investigate the pursuit, while Trooper Dean Lunz is investigating the collision, according to KSP.
