SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. — Two people have been arrested following a renewed investigation into the 2020 death of a 7-year-old Allen County girl, which authorities now consider a homicide.

Bobby Meador, 70, the girl’s grandfather, was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree manslaughter in connection with her death.

Revelin Meador died Aug. 1, 2020, at her home along Celsor Road in Fountain Run. She was medically fragile, required around-the-clock care and was unable to care for herself, authorities said.

Bobby Meador was identified as her adopted dad in her 2020 obituary.

The Kentucky State Medical Examiner determined she died from fentanyl intoxication. Authorities said she was incapable of obtaining or administering the drug herself.

The Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force reopened the case after detectives obtained and analyzed new information and evidence, according to a statement shared this week.

Bobby Meador was arrested in Warren County and was awaiting transport to Allen County as of Thursday evening.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are expected.

Farren Meador, 31, was arrested Wednesday on charges involving alleged sex crimes dating back to 2019, according to police. The charges are separate from the investigation into Revelin Meador’s death. (Allen County Detention Center)

The investigation also led authorities to uncover separate allegations against Farren Meador, 31, who was arrested Wednesday on charges involving alleged sex crimes dating back to 2019, police said.

He was listed as the biological father of the child in her obituary.

Farren Meador faces first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, and two incest charges. Those charges are unrelated to Revelin Meador’s death.
