GLASGOW, Ky. — The Glasgow-Barren County Rotary Club has completed its $45,000 pledge to Shanti Niketan Hospice Home, fulfilling a multi-year commitment to support end-of-life care for patients and families in southcentral Kentucky.

The final installment marks the culmination of a fundraising effort supported by the Rotary Club’s annual golf scramble, which brings together local businesses, organizations and individuals to raise money for community causes.

Over several years, participants contributed by entering golf teams, sponsoring holes and making donations, helping the club fulfill its full pledge to the hospice home.

In recognition of the contribution, a room inside Shanti Niketan has been named in honor of the Glasgow-Barren County Rotary Club, providing a lasting tribute to the Rotarians and community members who helped make the donation possible.

“This final installment is a significant moment for the Glasgow-Barren County Rotary Club,” said Shelby Evans, the club’s current president. “It represents the completion of a promise made several years ago and reflects the dedication of everyone who helped make this pledge possible.”

Evans said the effort became a shared commitment involving Rotarians, golf teams, sponsors, donors and community partners.

“We are incredibly proud to have fulfilled the Club’s $45,000 pledge and to know these funds have supported a place that provides such important care to families in our community,” she said.

Located at 1020 Glenview Drive in Glasgow, Shanti Niketan Hospice Home was developed through the T.J. Community Mission Foundation to provide a peaceful, home-like setting for patients receiving end-of-life care.

The name Shanti Niketan translates to “a peaceful place,” reflecting the facility’s mission of providing comfort and support to patients and their loved ones.

The hospice home features eight private patient rooms, each with access to a private patio, as well as family gathering areas, living rooms, a kitchen and dining spaces. The facility also includes areas for prayer and meditation and outdoor spaces designed to provide comfort and tranquility.

Since opening in 2021, Shanti Niketan has served more than 275 patients and their families, providing access to specialized end-of-life care close to home.

Although the Rotary Club has completed its financial commitment to the hospice home, its annual golf scramble will continue as one of the organization’s signature service and fundraising events.

The club plans to direct future proceeds toward another community need or organization, continuing a tradition of local investment and service.

The Rotary Club expressed appreciation to the golfers, sponsors, donors, volunteers, businesses and members whose contributions helped fulfill the pledge.

The effort reflects Rotary’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self” and the organization’s continued commitment to supporting projects that benefit Glasgow and Barren County.
