GLASGOW, Ky. — The Glasgow City Council is expected to consider the city’s next budget, several FEMA grant applications and appointments to local boards when it meets Monday evening.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building.

Among the evening’s presentations, the Glasgow Police Department will introduce three new officers who were sworn in June 15, and Elizabeth Shoemaker will provide an introduction to the Friends of Plaza organization.

Council members are scheduled to hold a second reading of an ordinance approving the city’s fiscal year 2027 budget, which covers July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

The council will also consider resolutions authorizing the disposal of surplus police equipment and allowing Mayor Henry Royse to handle the sale of properties acquired through delinquent taxes and code enforcement actions.

Several items involve federal grant applications.

The council is expected to consider seeking FEMA assistance to purchase hoses, nozzles and other equipment for the Glasgow Fire Department.

Additional resolutions would authorize applications through FEMA’s Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program for mitigation projects benefiting Glasgow Water Company and Glasgow Electric Plant Board.

Council members will also consider appointing Clay Thistlethwaite to a two-year term on the Historic Preservation Commission and reappointing Debbie Livingston to the Glasgow Economic Development Loan Fund board.

The next regular city council meeting is scheduled for July 13.
