GLASGOW, Ky. — A Glasgow woman was arrested early June 20 and charged with first-degree criminal abuse involving a child age 12 or younger following an investigation by the Glasgow Police Department.

According to a uniform citation, officers responded to an apartment at 200 Shalimar Drive shortly after 11 p.m. June 19 following a report of child abuse.

Officers encountered several family members and two minor children at the residence, according to police records.

Police reported observing injuries to one of the children. Officers documented bruising and swelling to the child’s face, including injuries around the eye, cheek, ear and forehead.

During the investigation, officers interviewed multiple family members, including the child’s father, Dakota York, and the child's mother, Miranda Lee, 21, of Glasgow.

According to the citation, family members told officers Lee appeared intoxicated.

York told investigators he returned home from work and found Lee intoxicated and acting aggressively. He later reported observing injuries to the child and contacted relatives for assistance before law enforcement was called.

Lee denied physically disciplining the child and told officers she believed the injuries may have occurred when York removed the children from bed. The citation said investigators found inconsistencies between statements provided during the investigation.

The child was transported to T.J. Samson Hospital for evaluation.

According to the citation, an emergency room physician determined the facial injuries were consistent with being struck by a hand or fist and advised that additional injuries to the child's back and buttocks appeared to have been caused by an unknown object or instrument within the previous 12 hours.

Police also contacted the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services during the investigation.

Based on witness statements, medical findings and the circumstances described in the citation, Lee was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child age 12 or younger.

She was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center. The children were placed in York’s custody and released from the hospital, according to the citation.

Lee was scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon. She remains lodged at the Barren County Detention Center on a $1,500 cash bond.
