MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. — Applications are now open for the 2026 Mammoth Master Class, a program designed for residents in Kentucky’s Cave Country region to learn more about Mammoth Cave National Park.

The program is open to people living or working in Barren, Edmonson and Hart counties, according to organizers. Ideal candidates are “community-minded, curious, and eager to learn more about the hidden depths (literal and metaphorical!) of Mammoth Cave.”

In 2026, participants will be expected to attend three sessions Sept. 23, Oct. 21 and Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT.

Programming includes planned meals, guided cave tours, site visits, speakers connected to Mammoth Cave National Park and networking opportunities with fellow classmates.

Organizers say the program is open to both those familiar with the park and those who may not know much about it but want to learn more.

“Do you love Mammoth Cave National Park? Or maybe you don’t know anything about it! Either way, this is for YOU!” the announcement said.

Participants are required to attend all sessions.

The tuition for Mammoth Master Class is $50 per participant and includes meals, three sessions and a class T-shirt. Participants must provide their own transportation to and from the park each session day.

Sessions include physical activity, and applicants are asked to note any accessibility concerns on their application.

Past participants say the experience offers a unique look inside the park.

“The Mammoth Master Class gave us a behind-the-scenes look at how the park is run and offered valuable insight into the history and culture that I would have never discovered without this opportunity,” said 2025 graduate Morgan Esters. “This whole experience was just awesome.”

Applications are due by May 31, 2026, with applicants to be notified in late July.
