GLASGOW, Ky. — A Barren County man was arrested Sunday after authorities said he assaulted his roommate, stole several of his belongings and fled their shared residence.

According to an arrest report, deputies were called to T.J. Samson Community Hospital on Oct. 30 after a man reported being assaulted by his roommate, identified as Christopher C. Parker, 25.

The man told deputies the assault began around 3 a.m. and continued until approximately 4:30 a.m. Parker allegedly took the man’s jacket and cellphone and removed $12 from his wallet.

A deputy who spoke with the man at the hospital noted he had sustained what was described in the report as “very serious trauma” to his face, particularly around his eyes.

Deputies attempted to contact Parker at the residence later that day but were unsuccessful. They eventually made contact with him Nov. 2, when he reportedly admitted to assaulting his roommate and taking the items.

Parker told deputies the assault stemmed from a dispute over approximately $112 he believed his roommate owed him. Parker alleged the man had stolen 27 of his Klonopin pills.

Parker acknowledged taking the man’s jacket, cellphone and $12, according to the report. He said he left the jacket at the residence, placed the cellphone beneath his mattress and spent the money on cigarettes.

Parker was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault. He was booked into the Barren County Detention Center, where he remained Wednesday on a $15,000 cash bond.
