GLASGOW, Ky. — Brandon Bond, the man accused of shooting and killing a young mother and her unborn child, is scheduled to stand trial Aug. 3-6, 2027, following a court appearance Monday afternoon in Barren County.

Bond, 24, pleaded not guilty to charges of murder (domestic violence), first-degree fetal homicide and first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot. A grand jury indicted him on the charges in May.

The charges stem from the April 6 shooting of Ava Woodcock and her unborn daughter, Neveah, in the parking lot of a restaurant along Cleveland Avenue. Both died from their injuries.

Bond appeared remotely from the Barren County Detention Center, wearing an orange jail uniform. He did not speak during the hearing and watched the proceedings on a video feed.

Bond is represented by the Department of Public Advocacy.

Family members said Ava was “one of the most kindhearted people out there” who loved animals and loved babies.

Commonwealth’s Attorney John Gardner said his office had worked to provide Bond’s defense counsel with cellphone data as a part of the discovery process.

Gardner also said he had presented Bond and his defense team with a plea agreement but had received neither an acceptance nor a counteroffer.

The terms of the proposed agreement were not discussed in open court. Gardner said he could not disclose the terms unless the agreement is accepted.

Judge John T. Alexander scheduled the trial for Aug. 3-6, 2027, saying those were likely the earliest available dates for four consecutive days without rescheduling another trial.

Alexander said many cases already scheduled for trial involve medical malpractice claims and require subpoenas for out-of-state witnesses, making him reluctant to move them.

The court scheduled another pretrial conference for Jan. 25, 2027, to address any outstanding issues in the case.
