Nearly 20,000 people remain without power across Kentucky, according to PowerOutage.com.

AUSTIN, Ky. — More than 1,700 people were without power as the sun rose Tuesday morning following overnight storms impacting parts of Barren, Allen and Monroe counties.

Tri-County Electric reported about 1,750 outages across the Austin, Tracy and Fountain Run areas. According to utility data, outages spiked around 4 a.m. as severe thunderstorms and strong winds moved through the region.

The outages stem from outages in the Tompkinsville operations district, according to an outage map provided by Tri-County Electric.

Most of the outages were restored shortly after 8 a.m., according to an outage map.

The storms also caused scattered outages across the Farmers RECC service area overnight.

Crews there were already responding to issues before midnight when a snake entered the Roseville substation and disrupted a circuit, causing additional outages, according to a social media post.

Crews have been dispatched and are working to restore service as quickly as possible, Farmers RECC said. As of 7:30 a.m., fewer than 90 people were without power in their service region.
