GLASGOW, Ky. — The Barren County Economic Authority is launching a second round of its small business sign scholarship program, aimed at helping local storefronts improve their visibility and marketing.

The program, funded by German American Bank, provides matching funds to assist Barren County-based businesses with signage upgrades.

According to the announcement, the initiative aligns with the BCEA’s mission to retain and support existing businesses while encouraging expansion and strengthening local economic activity.

“German American Bank is a longtime supporter of the BCEA and stepped up to sponsor this important initiative to help boost the county’s economic activity,” the release said.

The program will offer a 1-to-1 match of up to $1,000 per business, with funds reimbursed upon presentation of receipts after installation. To qualify, businesses must have a brick-and-mortar location in Barren County and be a member of Barren Inc.

Applications opened May 18, 2026, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are depleted. The deadline to apply is July 3, 2026.

Applications and full eligibility criteria are available here. Completed applications and supporting documents may be emailed to maureen@barreninc.com or delivered to the Barren Inc. office at 126 E Public Square, Suite 101 in Glasgow.

The BCEA said the program is designed to strengthen small business visibility while supporting continued economic development across the county.
