LUCAS, Ky. — Visitors to Barren River Lake will temporarily lose access to two recreation areas later this month as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completes parking lot maintenance.

The Louisville District announced it will begin maintenance work on July 20 at the Port Oliver and Quarry Road recreation areas, where crews will seal coat and stripe the parking lots.

To allow the work to be completed, gates to both recreation areas are expected to close the evening of July 19. The closures are expected to last several days, though the timeline is weather dependent.

The Corps said both recreation areas will remain open through the weekend before the work begins.

Visitors are asked to avoid the closed areas and obey all posted signs and barricades while the maintenance is underway.

The Corps said additional updates will be provided if the work schedule changes.
