Suspect captured after ‘severe attack’ on trooper in Warren County
A press conference was scheduled for Monday evening.
SMITHS GROVE, Ky. — Kentucky State Police have taken a suspect in custody after a trooper-involved shooting Monday afternoon on Interstate 65 in Warren County.
The shooting occurred near mile marker 38, near Smiths Grove. Trooper Hayden Phillips was killed during the encounter.

Phillips was a Barren County resident. He previously worked with Glasgow Police Department before joining KSP in 2023.

The suspect fled in a bluish-gray Honda Civic.
Police have not named the suspect but said they were captured in Louisville just before 6 p.m. CST.
Authorities have not released additional details about the shooting. A press conference was scheduled for Monday evening.
