SMITHS GROVE, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are searching for a vehicle that was present during a trooper-involved shooting Monday afternoon on Interstate 65 in Warren County.

The suspect was identified as Emmonie Branch, 51, of Portland, Tennessee. He is described as a Black man, 5-foot-11 and about 250 pounds, with shoulder-length dreadlocks and a neatly trimmed beard.

Branch is considered armed and dangerous. He should not be approached.

Branch was last seen in a bluish-gray Honda Civic with Alabama license plate TN018596. The shooting occurred near mile marker 38, near Smiths Grove.

Northbound lanes of I-65 remain closed beginning at mile marker 30 near Bowling Green. A detour is in place.

Police are asking anyone who sees the vehicle to contact law enforcement.

Authorities have not released additional details about the shooting.

The identities of the trooper and suspect have not been released.
