GLASGOW, Ky. — Barren County magistrates will meet Thursday morning for a special-called fiscal court meeting.

The agenda includes action on the county’s next annual budget, amendments to the current spending plan, and approval of more than $700,000 in listed payments and invoices.

The meeting was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was moved due to Election Day. It begins at 9 a.m. on May 21.

Among the most consequential agenda items is first reading of Ordinance 704, which would establish the county’s annual budget and appropriations for Fiscal Year 2026–2027. The new fiscal year begins July 1.

Magistrates are also expected to consider second reading of Ordinance 703, which would amend the current Fiscal Year 2025–2026 budget.

The agenda also includes approval of payment claims, fund transfers, personnel actions and appointments to boards and councils.

Jannell Pedigo and Larry Davenport are slated for reappointment to the ethics commission, while Erika Young is slated for appointment to a four-year term on the Glasgow-Barren County Tourist and Convention Commission, pending fiscal court approval.

Sherry Eubank is also slated for appointment to the assessment appeals board, which is a four-year term.

Several invoices totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars are up for approval, including:

  • $231,390.33 to Scotty’s Contracting and Stone
  • $192,129.00 to US Bank Trust
  • $149,100.28 to Asphalt Materials
  • $96,619.25 to Greyrock Excavation
  • $17,856.00 to Team First Sports

Additional payments include invoices for construction, fuel, E911 services and tax bill expenses.

County leaders are also expected to consider approval of the 2026–2027 Waste Tire Grant Agreement and a memorandum of agreement with the Barren River Area Development District.

A presentation from BRIDGE KY is also scheduled before closing remarks.

Several committee meetings listed under department reports were canceled, including Economic Development, Emergency Management/Solid Waste, Jail and Parks and Recreation committees.

The next regular Fiscal Court meeting is scheduled for June 2.
