FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman on Tuesday randomly selected 12 counties for post-election audits, in accordance with state law, and Barren County was not among them.

The counties selected included Rowan, Oldham, Franklin, Daviess, Laurel, Adair, Scott, Union, Fulton, Carroll, Floyd and Pike.

“From Pike to Fulton, our Office is committed to ensuring Kentucky’s elections are free, fair, and secure,” Coleman said. “Along with our election officials and law enforcement partners, we are committed to making sure every vote is counted fairly.”

Detectives from the Attorney General’s office will travel to each county over the next few weeks and will interview county clerks, election officials and voters. Officials also review records.

“In short, they will, from stem to stern, investigate and engage with officials in those counties,” Coleman said.

At the end of the investigations, Department of Criminal Investigations detectives will present their findings to grand juries to determine whether law was upheld in the voting process.

This year, the election fraud hotline has received nearly 600 calls, with two complaints still open, Coleman said. He did not provide details on the location or nature of the complaints.
