GLASGOW, Ky. — After declining to comment on a proposed data center development in Cave City, the superintendent of Mammoth Cave National Park is scheduled to meet with Barren County’s top elected official.

County Judge/Executive Jamie Byrd said she and Mammoth Cave National Park Superintendent Barclay Trimble are set to meet this week to discuss the project.

No environmental review or impact analysis has been disclosed for the project.

Barrenside previously requested comment from a park spokesperson and received a response from the U.S. Department of the Interior, which oversees the National Park Service.

The response was brief: “We don’t have comment or speculation about development on private land,” it said.

Byrd said she hopes to better understand any potential concerns the park may have. The proposed data center site sits near the park’s southern boundary and within the Mammoth Cave Biosphere Region.

The federal government previously commented on a separate solar project in Barren County but did not respond to a request asking why it issued comment on that project and not the proposed data center development.
