About six hours after the shooting, Kentucky State Police held a news conference to share what they knew about the killing and the investigation.

Phillips’ funeral service will begin at noon CDT Sunday at E.A. Diddle Arena on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. Burial will follow at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Living Hope Baptist Church, 1805 Westen St. in Bowling Green.

A vigil is planned for sunset Thursday, around 6:30 p.m., at Kentucky State Police Post 15, 1118 Jamestown St. in Columbia.

Phillips’ body was brought home to Glasgow Tuesday morning as law enforcement officers and community members lined the route to pay their respects.

Before joining Kentucky State Police, Phillips served with the Glasgow Police Department and worked as a seasonal firefighter.

The procession left the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville Tuesday morning and traveled south on I-65 through Cave City before reaching Glasgow.

Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Sunday in honor of Phillips.

“Trooper Hayden Phillips was a hero who sacrificed everything protecting our people and our commonwealth, and it is our sacred duty to honor him and his family,” Beshear said.

Beshear also asked Kentuckians to continue praying for Phillips’ wife, Jordan, and their three children.

Those wishing to support the Phillips family can donate through the Kentucky State Police Foundation. The governor’s office said proceeds from donations made through the foundation will go directly to the family.

Phillips graduated from KSP Academy Class 103 in August 2023 and spent his entire KSP career at Post 3 in Bowling Green.
