Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the suspect's description who was unloading items from a laundry cart. Police reported that a fixed-blade knife was visible in the man's back pocket.

Officers identified the man as Houchens and confirmed he had an active warrant out of Barren County, according to the report. Police removed the knife and searched him for additional weapons before placing him under arrest.

According to police, officers warned Houchens multiple times about taking controlled substances or contraband into the jail.

During a subsequent search by detention center deputies, authorities reportedly found a clear plastic baggie containing 1.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two clear plastic baggies containing a total of 1.8 grams of suspected marijuana, and 13 white pills stamped “TEVA” and “834” that police suspected were clonazepam.

Houchens was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, second offense (methamphetamine); third-degree possession of a controlled substance, drug unspecified; possession of marijuana; and first-degree promoting contraband, in addition to the original warrant, according to police.

He was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.

Officer Zachary Cook made the arrest, according to the report.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
