GLASGOW, Ky. — A Glasgow man was arrested Tuesday on a series of charges involving alleged sexual offenses against a child, according to the Glasgow Police Department.

Detective John Wallen led the investigation that resulted in the arrest of 49-year-old Raymond P. Goldsmith of Glasgow. Officers located Goldsmith on Cranbrook Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Goldsmith has been charged with first-degree rape involving a victim under the age of 12, first-degree sodomy involving a victim under 12, first-degree sexual abuse involving a victim under 12, unlawful use of electronic means involving a minor, and distribution of obscene matter to minors (first offense), according to police.

He was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash-secured bond, according to a news release.

Authorities said the case remains under investigation by Detective Wallen with the Glasgow Police Department.

The arrest was made by Lt. Nick Houchens, with assistance from Glasgow Police officers, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, and the Kentucky State Police.
