GLASGOW, Ky. — A Barren County grand jury has indicted a man accused of falsely claiming he planted a bomb in the Barren County Courthouse.

Lee W. Elmore, 47, was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree fleeing or evading police on foot in connection with a March 30 incident that prompted the evacuation of the courthouse.

According to investigators, court personnel received a phone call from an unidentified man who claimed a bomb had been placed inside the building.

Authorities evacuated the courthouse and searched the premises but found no explosive device, according to a previous news release.

Police later determined Elmore had made several calls while concealing his phone number before calling back and identifying himself. Elmore was scheduled to appear in court that day for sentencing in a theft case, according to public records.

When officers went to his residence, Elmore denied making the calls or threats and attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended and arrested, according to police records.

An arraignment date had not been scheduled as of Thursday.

He remains jailed on a $250,000 cash bond, according to jail records.
