GLASGOW, Ky. — Barren County Schools has received a $12,240 grant from the WHAS Crusade for Children to purchase specialized equipment for students with diverse abilities.

The funding was awarded through the organization’s 2026-27 grant program following the 73rd annual WHAS Crusade for Children fundraising campaign.

According to the school district, the grant will be used to purchase specialized seating and desks, as well as adaptive equipment designed to better meet students’ physical, sensory and instructional needs.

Planned purchases include large-screen Chromebooks, large-screen iPads with protective cases, adaptive and sensory floor seating, weighted lap pads, a functional hand device and a study carrel.

District officials said the equipment will provide students with greater access to learning while helping remove barriers in the classroom.

“We are incredibly grateful to the WHAS Crusade for Children and to the donors who make these grants possible each year,” Christa Middleton, director of special programs, said. “This funding will allow us to provide specialized equipment that helps remove barriers to learning and gives our students the tools they need to succeed. We appreciate the Crusade's continued investment in the children of Barren County.”

The WHAS Crusade for Children has supported agencies serving children with diverse abilities throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana for more than 70 years. Its annual grant program provides funding for equipment, technology and services that improve educational opportunities and quality of life for children.

Barren County Schools said it will use the grant to expand access to learning resources for students who benefit from adaptive technology and specialized classroom equipment.
